Cau Hamlet is located in the Marga sub-district, Tabanan Regency, Bali, very close to Jatiluwih Village, one of the world cultural heritages protected by UNESCO. In this sub-district there is also the Margarana Heroes Cemetery as a symbol of the resistance of the Balinese people to the invaders. Cau Chocolates was established in December 2014 and started operating in mid 2016. Cau Chocolates was established to provide easy access for local cocoa farmers to distribute their agricultural products. Cocoa products from local farmers will not be purchased before Cau Chocolates provides assistance so that the cocoa produced by farmers is of high quality with 2 main requirements, namely cocoa must meet fermentation and organic standards. Before cau chocolates was established, Cau Village was one of the major cocoa producers, but pests and diseases and the lack of awareness of farmers to manage their cocoa plants properly caused a lot of cocoa in this area to die and not be looked after.
